JTCH Annual Health Fair set for June 29

May 20, 2024

Jane Todd Crawford Hospital will be hosting its annual Health Fair on Saturday, June 29, from 7-11 a.m. CDT on the grounds in front of the hospital.

More than 20 health-care related booths, activities for children, concessions and a silent auction – sponsored by the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital Auxiilary – will be available for guests to enjoy. But the biggest attraction of the annual event remains a low-cost blood draw to give a snapshot of a person’s overall health.

For only $15, those who have their blood drawn will be screened for 30 different analyses, including a complete blood count (CBC), a chemistry profile with HDL cholesterol, lipid profile, and a thyroid test. Also, men have the option of adding a PSA prostate cancer screen for an additional $10, which uses the same sample of blood. The PSA screening is recommended for men 50 and older, those who have a family history of the prostate, have had a vasectomy, or are African-American.

“We have been able to hold this low cost for the blood draw for several years now, and we know that it is something our community appreciates,” said Rusty Tungate, Administrator/CEO of Jane Todd Crawford Hospital.

Pre-Health Fair blood draws get under way on Tuesday, June 25, for those whose last names began with A-I. Wednesday, June 26 will be J-R; and Thursday, June 27, last names S-Z. Blood draws will be taken from 7-9 a.m. each morning at the hospital. Please remember to fast, having only water to drink at least 12 hours before having your blood drawn.

On Saturday, June 29 – the day of the Health Fair – blood draws will be held from 7-10:30 a.m., with the Health Fair concluding at 11 a.m.
