JTCH cancels Health Fair

June 23, 2020

As with most events that typically draw large crowds, another well-attended area event has been cancelled for this year.

The annual Jane Todd Crawford Hospital Health Fair, which usually takes place in August, has been cancelled.

“We were very sorry to make this decision, but we all believe it is the safest thing to do right now as we all continue to suffer the effects of the coronavirus pandemic,” said JTCH Administrator/CEO Rusty Tungate. “The Health Fair will be rescheduled at a time when it is safe to do so.”

The Health Fair is certainly a benefit to the local community, and hundreds of people are attracted to the low-cost blood draw that is the main focus of the Health Fair. However, as the spread of COVID-19 is still active, Tungate said it would not be prudent to bring together such a large crowd of people where the virus would have the opportunity to spread from person-to-person.

“We feel that it is better to err on the side of caution. Hopefully, we will get to host the Health Fair in the not-too-distant future,” he said.
